Welcome to Math 8

Today is about getting started and understanding how math will work in this class. This is not a test. The focus is on thinking, explaining, and working together.

Course Overview

Math 8 focuses on building strong number sense, algebraic thinking, and problem-solving skills. You will work with integers, algebra, geometry, data, and real-world contexts.

Explaining your thinking and learning from mistakes are key parts of this course.

What We’re Doing in Class Today

KenKen Puzzles

KenKen puzzles help develop logical thinking, pattern recognition, and perseverance.

  • Each number appears once in every row and column
  • Numbers in a cage combine to match the target value
  • Operations may include +, −, ×, or ÷
  • There is more than one place to start — keep trying

Getting Ready for Math 8 Stations

You will work in groups through stations that review important Math 7 ideas. The goal is to show how you think, explain your reasoning, and work collaboratively.
